B. Börkur Eiríksson - Market

from 35.00

Artist B. Borkur Eiriksson is like the Robert Henri of game art. His scifi and fantasy illustrations are imbued with a sobering dose of realism, in the fashion of the American Ashcan artists from the 1890’s. Henri wanted art to be “akin to journalism” in its truthtelling, and for the paint “to be as real as mud, as the clods of horse-shit and snow, that froze on Broadway in the winter." Eiriksson’s work imagines the grim realities of a dystopian future or a medieval past, where environment and characters are rendered in existentialist digital brushtrokes. At times bordering on abstraction, his work tells its story in as few markings as need be. His style is well-suited to the universe of EVE Online, where humanity hacks out survival in deep space, cut off from its earthly origins.

Eiriksson is an accomplished artist with specialization in areas of digital painting and concept art. He holds a BA in Illustration from Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam (2004) and has created art for EVE Online, World of Darkness and Dust 514. A panel awarded Eirksson with his inclusion in the Into the Pixel Collection in 2007. As Art Director of CCP Games, Eiriksson currently lives and works in Reykjavik, Iceland.
